Our laws allow for huge amounts of campaign spending in political races, small and large, all across the country. This money – political action groups, undisclosed “dark” money, and yes, bribes – drowns out the voices of the commoner, the working class, the everyday people. This money skews the truth with hundreds of thousands of carefully scripted advertisements.
In Ohio, the tens of millions of dollars that First Energy gave became the money given to certain GOP candidates that supported “favorable” legislation (many Democrats are just as guilty). When candidates take this money they will serve those who gave money — not the people.
By the way, I support state-of-the-art nuclear power plants built and owned by federal government for many reasons, with the revenues helping to lower our taxes.
